How I Style: Patterns/Prints !

     Here's the fashion post I promised you guys! Summer's all about patterns and prints, here is how I incorporate them into my outfits.

Outfit #1 - Bohemian

     I wasn't exactly sure of what to call this print, so I just went with bohemian. (Which is really more of a style, but whatever.) I put on this sleeveless beauty and threw on my floppy hat! I added gold earrings and jewelry to match the gold accents on my new boots that I picked up (on sale) in Memphis last weekend.

Outfit #2 - Animal Print

     I bought these jeans, unsure of them, thinking I would return them later. I actually ended up liking them though. Whenever I wear pieces that are bold like this, I always keep everything else very, very simple.

Outfit #3 - Polkadots!

     This is the only polkadot item I have (sad face) and it was $3. I love the vintage feel it has because of the silhouette and pleats. I wore my pink and gold bracelets and my long earrings with the bird and pink stone on them.

     For this print, aztec (which is one of my favorites), I wore this multicolored croptop and my trendy mint green shorts. No earrings and simple bracelets. I also love the detailing of this belt!

     This is the off-the-shoulder top I wore in my last ootd and one of my favorite skirts. I added a belt to cinch the waist and some gold jewelry.

Favorite Reads!

     Here are my two favorite magazines and favorite reference books. I absolutely love reading Elle and Vogue and these books by Nina Garcia and the Teen Vogue staff are books that I'm always going back to for tips.

       

     Anyone who knows anything about me, knows that I dream to be the next Anna Wintour (but warmer!). Actually, I don't want to be an Anna Wintour. I want to be Jaylin Paschal, and leave my own mark on the world. I'd just like to be the type of leader and editor Anna is. Vogue is what made me love this industry, therefore, it is and probably always will be my without-a-doubt, absolute favorite magazine. I also really like Elle. Their creative director is my second favorite. (Grace from Vogue is my first. Crazy talented...)

(I love America, and I love American women, but there is one thing

that deeply shocks me... American closets. I cannot believe one can 

dress well when you have so much.)

     The Teen Vouge Handbook: An Insider's Guide to Careers in Fashion. All I've ever wanted to do has been fashion related. Model, designer, stylist, editor/journalist. This book features success stories and tips for all of these careers and more. I love it. I also love The Little Black Book of Style by the lovely Nina Garcia. This book is so cute and helpful! I seriously read it straight through, like it was a novel. I'm in love with the artwork in the book by Ruben Tuledo and the quotes in the book are so inspirational and true!

OOTD: New Shorts

June 26, 2012

     Today was rough. But, I got through it. I went for something simple today. I'm wearing a white off-the-shoulder top and my new high-waisted shorts! I absolutely adore the detailing and buttons on these. When I saw them in the store, I almost died right then and there. There was only one pair left, and they were a small! They were also on sale. They were my size and affordable... how could I leave without them? I also wore some spike earrings and my basic, everyday black sandals.

Candace's Wedding

     So, I'm in Tennessee, with my loud, obnoxious, and extremely loving family. I came down for my cousin, Candace's, wedding. I didn't get any good pictures at the wedding (frowny face) and partied too hard at the reception to take any pictures. But, here is one picture of me, my mother, and my sister.

     Really sorry about the lack of detail and pictures. I was wearing a collared dress from JCPenny's, sandals from Forever 21 and simple gold jewelry.

FASHION FRIDAY: Steven Klein (photographer)

     According to Anna Wintour, the world famous editor of Vogue, Steven Klein's fashion portfolios are "clever, conceptual, and ultimately lyrical". I can't disagree. Every time I flip through Vogue and see extremely interesting and detailed photos in editorials, I guess that it's Klein's work. Most of the time, I'm right. He's shot 9 Vogue covers and tons of spreads for the magazine. Here's some of his work:

     Great, right? He's definitely one of my favorites. He's extremely innovative and talented. I read a lot about him on Voguepedia, so check that out for more info. Also, comment your opinion and the name of your favorite photographer!

OOTD: Oh , You Caught Me LAFFing . & The September Issue

     I was rushing this morning, so I went for something quick and simple, but cute. I went for this dress (which I love, love, love the print of by the way) and simple accessories. The first picture was taken while I was watching Family Matters. Good ole Steve Urkle was funnier than usual in this particular episode. I really wish we still had shows like Family Matters, Everybody Hates Chris, Sister Sister and My Wife & Kids. I find the shows way funnier and so much more entertaining than the new shows that come on now.

     Anyways, I had realized that by being a huge admirer of Anna Wintour, I hadn't seen the documentary, The September Issue. What kind of aspiring fashion journalist hasn't seen it? I was so ashamed! I went to the library immediately and checked it out! Can't wait to watch it over & over & over & over again, like I know I will.
